The company's e-learning business accounts for 75% of its total revenues, and this segment is growing rapidly as more Chinese enroll in college classes. The company is growing at the rate of over 20% a year, but despite this strong growth the stock still trades at very attractive valuations -- especially after the recent pullback.

China Green Agriculture

China Green Agriculture Inc. /quotes/comstock/13*!cga/quotes/nls/cga (CGA 14.33, -0.51, -3.44%) has one of the most recognizable brand names in Chinese fertilizers today. The company also has a big competitive advantage over its rivals due in part to its strong research and development facilities. China Green Agriculture recently announced a new sales strategy for fiscal years 2010 through 2012 that is expected to increase sales volume by around 40% per year. This plan includes opening numerous retail stores across the country, and while the plan is indeed ambitious, I think it will be fully achievable given the company's tremendous growth record.

China Life Insurance

If I asked people to name the most explosive sectors in Asia, I doubt many would put insurance on the list. Yet in China, the insurance industry is growing at a breakneck pace as the Chinese middle class expands and people take charge of their own destinies. In the coming years, I expect China to become the largest insurance market in the world. Taking advantage of this trend is China Life Insurance Ltd. /quotes/comstock/13*!lfc/quotes/nls/lfc (LFC 66.04, +0.91, +1.40%) As the life insurance industry leader with about a 50% market share, China Life is the dominant player in an extremely underdeveloped insurance market. This position means China Life is perfectly positioned to build on its massive market share.

The companies which raised distributions include:

McCormick & Company (MKC), which engages in the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of flavor products and other specialty food products to the food industry worldwide, increased its quarterly dividend by 8.30% to 26 cents per share. McCormick & Company is a dividend achiever, which has increased its quarterly dividend in each of the past twenty three years. The stock currently yields 2.60%.

The York Water Company (YORW), which engages in impounding, purifying, and distributing drinking water in Pennsylvania, increased its quarterly dividend by 1.60% to 12.80 cents per share. This marked the thirteenth consecutive year that this dividend achiever has raised its distributions. The stock currently yields 3.40%.

Hormel Foods Corp. (HRL), which engages in the production and marketing of various meat and food products in the United States and internationally, increased its quarterly dividend by 15% to 21 cents per share. Hormel Foods Corp. is a dividend champion, which has increased its quarterly dividend in each of the past forty-four years. The stock currently yields 2.00%.

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BDX), a medical technology company, which develops, manufactures, and sells medical supplies, devices, laboratory equipment, and diagnostic products worldwide, increased its quarterly dividend by 12.10% to 37 cents per share. Becton, Dickinson and Company is a dividend aristocrat, which has increased its quarterly dividend in each of the past thirty-seven years. The stock currently yields 1.70%.

United Bankshares, Inc. (UBSI), which provides commercial and retail banking services and products, increased its quarterly dividend by 3.4% to 30 cents per share. This marked the 36th consecutive year of dividend increases to United shareholders. The stock currently yields 6.70%.

Roper Industries, Inc. (ROP), which engages in designing, manufacturing, and distributing energy systems and controls, scientific and industrial imaging products and software, industrial technology products, and radio frequency products and services, raised its quarterly dividend by 15% to 9.5 cents per share. This is the seventeenth consecutive year of dividend increases for this dividend achiever. The stock currently yields 0.60%.

Oritani Financial Corp. (ORIT), which provides banking services to individual and business customers in New Jersey, increased its quarterly dividend by 50% to 7.5 cents per share. The stock currently yields 2.30%

The stock currently yields 4.70%.This list is only a starting point in the process of weeding out companies in the pursuit of identifying promising candidates however. As the market has gone ahead of itself in recent months, a wise move might be to wait for weakness in the broad averages before initiating a position in any of the above names, after researching them thoroughly.

The Proshares UltraShort 20+ Year Treasury ETF (TBT:NYSE) has proven immensely popular, with average daily volume above 5 million shares. TBT is designed to rise when long bond prices fall. Thus, to go long TBT is to cast a predictive vote for rising interest rates, rising inflation expectations, and deteriorating credit conditions fueling a loss of faith in Uncle Sam.

The thing is, the logic behind this trade may have become too obvious. When that happens, the odds of a nasty correction increase significantly.

Green Stocks

Check out ZBB....large scale enrgy storage company. They make Zinc Bromide batteries and are currently attempting to move from an R&D company to commercialization. Had a pilot trial with PG&E and it went well. Risky, but its in an area (smart grid) in the spotlight.

Also, look at NGLPF, a bb geothermal stock, with their 1st plant coming on-line in October. Should continue run-up till the plant comes online.

APWR is another one. This is my favorite "green" stock of the ones I own. They are Chinese and do distributed generation (DG) power plants (including liquified natural gas, biomass and wind farms so far), manufacture wind turbines and contruct wind farms, and they just bought a thin-film solar manifacturer. Big picture...it looks like their goal is to build DG plants using their own turbines (just got their 1st contract to do exactly that) and their own solar panels, among the other carbon-based forms.

For those who believe the real estate market is poised for a comeback, there are several options that provide market exposure. A few of these funds are highlighted here:

Vanguard REIT ETF (VNQ): This ETF is designed to track the performance of the MSCI U.S. REIT Index, a benchmark of U.S. property trusts that covers about two-thirds of the U.S. REIT market.
iShares Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate Index (IYR): IYR tracks the diversified Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate Index. This index holds a number of REITs with interests in a wide variety of real property, including shopping malls, storage facilities, residential properties, and timber.
SPDR DJ Wilshire International Real Estate (RWX): This State Street fund offers exposure to real estate markets throughout the world. In addition to U.S. real estate (43% of fund holdings), IYR holds assets in Japan (12%), Australia (8%), and the UK (8%). RWX has outperformed the majority of U.S.-only real estate ETFs over the past year.
ProShares Ultra Real Estate (URE): URE is a leveraged ETF, meaning that it is generally inappropriate for buy-and-hold investors and is primarily used by day traders. For sophisticated investors looking to generate a quick intraday profit, URE may be a useful tool. Given the frequency with which important real estate related information is released (new construction, median home prices, etc.) real estate indices often experience significant one-day movements that can be exacerbated with leveraged funds.

Now that doesn’t mean that you should run and hide until then. Indeed, now is the time to begin looking to build your bridges to the new bull market. A careful mix of short-term puts and long-term calls is your best bet at the moment.

Long-term LEAPS on such stalwarts as Mittal Acelor (MT:NYSE) and Chevron (CVX:NYSE) are available dirt-cheap right now. Their deltas enable them to double in value when these companies’ shares gain mere dollars.

Risk can be ameliorated through puts on such potential losers as the banks (shares of the bearish 3x bank fund Justice has mentioned of late would suffice just as well, as they are based on puts), retailers like the Gap (GAP:NYSE), and even such industrial players as Boeing (BA:NYSE) can be used to balance off any losses you incur, allowing you to remain in your long plays throughout the rough days that are bound to lurking ahead.

In the end, with some realism, diligence and hard work, I hope for, and indeed plan for, the best for all: friends, family, health and wealth.

Profits over the same stretch rose 34 cents per share, beating expectations by 4 cents.It’s a fair bet that GEO will continue its growth without terribly much trouble, what with states coming up so short these days and need so obviously growing. The current share price as I sit to write is $18.90. Gains of 20% per quarter should be easy to maintain, and a double by summer is certainly not out of the question.

Free pick for May 21st: Exide Technologies (XIDE) got an extra lift after hours on news it would supply batteries for the Peps Boys. The regular trading break of $15.54 probably reflected some whisper buying in this regard. The stock originally featured as a Subscriber pick in February and it has been one of the few picks not to disappoint (unfortunately, not one of many). The stock sports an excellent accumulation trend in on-balance-volume and enjoyed a fresh MACD trigger 'buy'. If there is a disappointment it is the sharp drop in bull trend strength (ADX), from highs of 50 down to the barely bullish 23; further weakness will likely lead to a failed breakout. The point-n-figure chart shows a target of $23.50, but it will take a touch of $16 to generate a double top breakout. I have opted for a measured move target.
